U2 frontman Bono and his wife Ali Hewson launched Archbishop Desmond Tutu's autobiography on the eve of his 80th birthday in South Africa yesterday.
The millionaire rock star and the anti-apartheid legend were reunited in Cape Town yesterday at the launch of 'Tutu: The Authorised Portrait'.
Bono serenaded the archbishop from the pulpit of St George's Cathedral with the band's anthem 'Still Haven't Found What I'm Lookin' For'.
And he told the leader of the anti-apartheid struggle that he "is the only rock star in the room".
"At 80, you are on one punk rock level higher than I am. You are also more dangerous than any rock star because, Arch... you're radical like the Christ whose footsteps you tread," he said.
Earlier this week, Dr Tutu hit the deadlines when he said the ANC-led government was worse than the apartheid regime for not issuing a visa to allow the Dalai Lama to join his 80th birthday celebrations.
South Africa denies it was pressurised by China into refusing the visa.
Bono first met the archbishop almost a decade ago ahead of the World Economic Forum in New York in 2002 where he urged leaders to spend more on global health.
They also met in South Africa in 2004 when Bono paid a visit to the headquarters of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
